7th Anniversary of the Sunday Afternoon Tango Practica Raises $400 for the Community Cycling Center!
Over 100 people showed up for this special rendition of the Sunday Afternoon Practica on January 7th, 2007, including 43 for the drop-in class! Perhaps Jonathan Maus had a little to do with it, as he posted this notice on BikePortland.org.
Photographer Orin Bassoff showed up, and took a ton of pictures (including the one on the left). He is donating the proceeds from sales of these pictures to the CCC!
The 7th Anniversary Practica was a benefit for the Community Cycling Center, a non-profit organization that was "founded with a mission of fostering the personal growth of youth through community-oriented recreational and educational bicycle programs and services." It was long-time tango-dancing friend Gillian Leichtling who sparked the whole idea, as her partner Susan Remmers is Executive Director of the Community Cycling Center. Gillian also knew what an enthusiastic bicyclist I had become, so it wasn't a hard sell to have the 7th Anniversary of the Practica benefit the CCC. Happily, the Viscount Dance Studios also chimed in with their support, so all $400 went to the CCC.
Thank you all for your support!
